Arasikereya Eshwara devalaya-The Eshwara Temple at Arasikere
Author: Dr. K. N. Mohan
Place: Arasikere, Hasana
The author has explained in detail the architecture of this beautiful and unique Hoysala temple built during the reign of Ballala II in 1222 AD. This temple is considered the most complex one in architecture among Hoysala temples because of its 16-pointed star shaped Navaranga which is very unique, in addition to an asymmetrical star shaped shrine. Another unique feature of this temple is the elaborate carving of puranic stories in the ceilings of sanctum (garbhagruha) and vestibule (sukanasi).
