Dr. Nagabhushana draws our attention to poets/composers, writers and inscribers of inscriptions of Chikkamagaluru district. Nearly 1000 inscriptions of the district have been published and details of poets and inscribers are found in more than 100 inscriptions. Most of the inscriptions belong to 12th to 15th century AD. Malloja, Bayichoja, Bennoja, Yejoja, Balakoja, Madiyoja , Chinnamalloja, Thimmoja, Lingoja are few of the inscribers mentioned by the author. The most famous poet Janna has composed 2 inscriptions, one at Amrutheshwara temple at Amruthapura of Tarikere taluk and the other one at Tarikere. One can find inscriptions composed by poets Nagadeva and Mallinatha in the district. Many inscriptions found in the district have poetical or literary touch in their composition. The author also has given the list of the poets, inscribers, the types of inscription, and the place names and the titles conferred to the composers and inscribers due to their artistic achievements.
