One of the outstanding rulers of Karnataka was Vikramaditya VI of the later Chalukyas of Kalyana. During his long reign he has issued more than 1000 inscriptions. He, his harem and his ministers patronized Jainism. According Inscriptions of his period, the patronage was extended by the society to the various sub-sects of this religion. A thorough study of his epigraphs throws light on the conditions that prevailed during the period.
