Alupa Bankidevana Sujeru Sthambha shasana-Sujeru inscription of Alupa Bankideva

A rare inscription found at Sujeru, a place in Buntwal taluk of D.K. District. speaks of failure of monsoon and drought in that region. Costal Karnataka which was ruled by the Alupas during this period, is a land which rarely witnessed failure of rains. The king Alupa Bankideva prayed for the mercy of God and the region was blessed with rain. The king fulfilled his vow by making land grants to the God Timiresvara. The sujeru inscription is dated AD 1305 august 15, Sunday.
