Mudigereya devalayagalu-Temples of Mudigere, Chikmagalur

The author has given details of temples of Mudigere village of Tarikere taluk in Chikkamagalur. Narasigeshwara temple was built by brothers Ramagavunda, Somagavunda, Baichagavunda during the reign of Hoysala King Narasingadeva in 1230 AD according to the inscription at the temple. Another one, the Rameshwara temple was built in 1172 AD by the children of ‘Mahaprabhu’ Aadigavunda of Mudigere. This temple is almost in ruins and has architecture that resembles that of Kalyani Chalukyas. There are two beautiful hero stones with inscriptions near this temple. Another temple, that of Lord Lakshmi Narayana which was built in 14th century in Vijayanagara style, is also in ruins.
