Thagadura Prabhugalu-The Thagadur Chieftains
Author: Dr. H. S. Usha Rani
Place: Thagadur, Nanjanagud, Mysore
The author brings out an interesting history of Kommeyaru, the supposed chieftains of Tagadur and hence named after it. Based on inscriptions, she suggests that the Kommeyaru branches also existed in Muguru and Kuderu. These chieftains were engaged in the construction of temples and tanks with various donations to them. They were involved in various economic and social activities. The originator of this dynasty according to Smt. Usha Rani seems to be the one by name Kocchata Kotta Gowda who showed his valour in Henjare war, caused due to the snatching of treasury of Ganga King Harivarma’s queen, as indicated in the copper plate of Tagadur of 969 AD.
