• Dr. Suryanath U. Kamath is no more

    One of the founder members of Karnataka Itihasa Academy Dr. Suryanath U. Kamath breathed his last on 21 Oct 2015. He was 78. He was ailing for quiet sometime. In the passing away of Suryanath Kamath, the nation and Karnataka in particular has lost a great historian, a writer and a great scholar. He was also a chief editor of Karnataka State Gazetteer. He has authored several books on history and freedom struggle. Swathanthrya Sangramada Smruthigalu was his outstanding contribution, which runs into three volumes. He was also a recipient of Karnataka Sahithya Academy Award in 1973. The Academy condoles his death and prays God Almighty to rest the soul in peace.

    It’s lost to the field of History and culture. He was inspiring spirit for young researchers. We invited him to the dept of History, Gulbarga University in 1997 when I was doing my Ph.D. He suggested a lot. I pray almighty to rest the soul in peace.
